Seeing the World Differently: The Photographic Journey of Morten Albek
In a world saturated with images, Danish photographer and visual journalist Morten Albek stands out for his ability to distill life into quiet, poetic frames.
With a career spanning over three decades, Albek has become a respected figure in both journalism and fine art photography, known for his expressive street scenes, evocative portraits, and award-winning visual storytelling.

Born in Denmark in 1963, Albek began his career in 1988 as a photojournalist and cameraman. Since 1996, he has worked as a Photo and Video Journalist at TV2Fyn, where his eye for aesthetic detail and human emotion has shaped countless stories.
His work has been recognized with some of the highest honors in the field, including the European Circom Award for the documentary The Last Stitch, and First Prize from The Danish Press Photographers Association for the Best News Story for Television in 2014.
But Albek’s photography extends far beyond the newsroom
His personal work—often shot with a Leica M and guided by the philosophy “One Lens For All”—embraces simplicity and emotional resonance. Using a fixed lens, typically a 50mm, he captures fleeting moments that invite reflection and connection. His monochrome street photography and colour portraits are not just images; they are stories told in silence.

In 2023, Albek held a solo exhibition at Odeon in Odense, Denmark, focusing on the Odense Football Club. He is also the author of the 2024 e-book “What Are You Looking At?”, which explores the art of seeing through photography.
His workshops, held in cities like Paris, Berlin, Rome, and Copenhagen, attract photographers from around the world who seek to refine their craft and learn to see with greater clarity.
Albek’s teaching style is rooted in empowerment and simplicity
Whether in group workshops or one-to-one sessions, he encourages photographers to trust their instincts, understand their gear, and embrace the joy of photography. His courses include post-workshop Zoom critiques, helping participants reflect on their work and grow as visual storytellers, and planned for the future are three-day workshops including Lightroom and Capture One editing.
Throughout his career, Albek has contributed to books, magazines, and major productions, including portraits of Danish Prime Ministers and documentaries for DR and TV2. His work has covered everything from national sports events to intimate human stories, always with a focus on authenticity and emotional depth.
A way of seeing
Morten Albek’s photography is more than a profession—it’s a way of seeing. Through his lens, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and each image becomes a quiet invitation to pause, feel, and reflect.
