Decide for yourself what you like most.

This is one of the last photos from a two-day photo workshop in Copenhagen. On our way home, ending the workshop, we walked through Kongens Have in Copenhagen. I suddenly watched this mother and her son walking on a side pathway, and knew I had to run and capture this moment.

I had to run to catch them before they walked out of the silent scene and into the crowd. The image wouldn’t be the same if I couldn’t isolate them from other people. The quiet lies in the way they walk into the light, and I love this moment of connection between the parent and the child. There is something very pure about this image.

A Classic Candid Street Photo

This image has something very simple and classic feeling. Almost like an arranged stock photo, but is a pure candid street photo caught in the moment.

There was no rush in their pace. It was the kind of walk that didn’t need a destination — just a moment to be shared. The balloon bobbed in rhythm with the breeze, a small symbol of joy from a day well spent. Maybe it was a reward for good behaviour, or a spontaneous gift. Either way, it floated like a quiet celebration above them.

This scene, captured in a single frame, speaks of simplicity and connection. It’s not about grand gestures or dramatic events. It’s about the quiet magic of everyday life — the kind of moment that often slips by unnoticed, but lingers in memory like the scent of coffee. The colour balance speaks for itself, with the green balloon matching the surrounding green leaves, and the red drawing attention.

In colour photography, the balance and vibration of colours make a huge difference.

For comparison, a black-.and-white version is inserted below.
