COPENHAGEN 2 day workshop – July 3-4, 2027

875

Two days of street photography in Copenhagen, working through Nørrebro, the harbour, Nyhavn, Christianshavn, and Refshaleøen.

Join me for a small-group workshop in one of Scandinavia’s most rewarding summer cities for street photography. Copenhagen offers clean lines, open light, canals, bridges, bicycles, quiet side streets, and a lively urban rhythm that makes the city ideal for observation, timing, and strong visual storytelling.

Over two focused days, we will work with light, composition, timing, and awareness in real streets and real situations. The workshop is practical, hands-on, and built to help you work faster, see more clearly, and make stronger photographs with greater consistency.

This workshop is designed for photographers who want to improve both their seeing and their camera workflow in the street. Whether you are newer to street photography or already experienced, the teaching is adapted to your level and goals.

Description

What to expect

The workshop takes place entirely on location and is built around photographing in different parts of Copenhagen, each with its own rhythm, light, and visual character.

Across the two days, we will work with:

  • simple camera setup for faster and more consistent files
  • light, composition, and timing in streets, on bridges, and along the harbour
  • people and places in both calm and busy urban situations
  • layering, gesture, and working the scene
  • building confidence and consistency in your street photography

Day 1 begins at Torvehallerne, where we start with coffee, introductions, camera setup, and a short briefing before heading into the city. From there, we work through Nørrebro and toward the lakes, focusing on rhythm, flow, layers, bicycles, silhouettes, and the mix of people, movement, and public space that defines Copenhagen in summer.

We will also work with details and story fragments in and around Red Square, Black Market, and Green Park, before continuing into side streets or canal areas where we can practise sequencing and learning how to stay with a scene longer.

Day 2 shifts toward the harbour and waterfront light. We begin at Café Mormors and continue through Nyhavn, Christianshavn, and toward Refshaleøen. Here we will work with reflections, leading lines, quieter canal scenes, and a more open visual structure shaped by water, bridges, and industrial surroundings.

Refshaleøen and Reffen offer a different pace again, with food stalls, movement, texture, and opportunities to work with both candid observation and more layered people-and-place photographs. We close the day with a final on-the-street review so the lessons become practical and easier to carry forward.

Typical workshop hours are:

Day 1: 10:00–17:00 Day 2: 10:00–15:00
