Photography as a Search for Questions
On mortenalbek.com, my work reflects a simple yet profound philosophy:
I don’t know what I’m looking for—therefore, I search.
Photography, for me, is not about certainty or predefined answers. It’s about curiosity, exploration, and the willingness to embrace the unknown.

I often say, “One lens for all.”
This is not just a technical choice; it’s a mindset. Limiting gear liberates creativity. By working with a single lens, I remove distractions and focus on what truly matters: the moment, the light, and the story unfolding in front of me.
The same approach for subjects. Keep it simple. Take pictures of what you see.
This is the answer for you too. Let it go. Don’t search for specific subjects. See what comes and embrace it with your camera. The pictures shown here are all something we just met on our way on the previous Rome workshop.

All levels of experience and camera brands are present. But that’s not all. Continue reading. I’ll keep it short.

Limiting gear liberates creativity. By working with a single lens, I remove distractions and focus on what truly matters: the moment, the light, and the story unfolding in front of me.
It forces me to see differently, to move, to adapt—and ultimately to connect more deeply with the subject.
I don’t start with a clear message or a rigid concept. I photograph because something might happen—something unexpected, something expressive.

My process is rooted in openness: I let the world speak, and I listen through the lens. Sometimes the result is clarity; more often, it’s ambiguity.
And that’s where the magic lies. There are more questions than answers—and that’s much more interesting.
Photography is not about solving; it’s about wondering.
What does this mean? Why does it move me? What story hides in the shadows? The answers are never final, and that’s why I keep searching.
